Calling All Aspiring Umpires – Junior Umpire Class Now Open for Enrollment!

SYBSA is excited to announce this year's umpire training class designed primarily for 7th graders—with room for interested 8th and 9th graders, and even 6th graders eager to learn the ropes. While our main focus is on 7th grade students (to align with our game scheduling and travel needs), we also welcome 6th graders who show enthusiasm for the sport. (Please note that if you’re in 6th grade, you won’t be eligible to umpire Majors games.)

In an effort to accommodate more participants, SYBSA is delaying the start our Junior Umpire Class by one week.   The current schedule below demonstrates the schedule change. 

This free class is designed for 7th graders and above who want to become umpires for SYBSA. After the class, students will be eligible to umpire softball and baseball games for SYBSA spring, summer, and fall seasons.  Our Jr. Umpire program is an exceptional method for adolescents to obtain real job experience, grow their leadership skills, and improve their baseball knowledge.  The program is open to all Sharon youth, so please encourage a friend to take the class with you.

Our classroom schedule starts with a weekly Tuesday pattern at 6:30 - 8 PM at Sharon Library.
January 27th, 6:30-8:00 PM
February 3rd, 6:30-8:00 PM

Additional weeks will likely follow either at the library or Sharon Community Center.  

Please register your athlete's interest using the form linked below. Successful completion of the class ensures that they will be eligible to umpire games this spring for pay.
