The primary goals of Tee Ball are to instruct children in the fundamentals of the sport and to allow them to experience the value of teamwork. The time is spent on teaching and will focus on fun, fitness, and fundamentals. With player engagement in mind, we try to keep kids in small groups as they transfer between hitting, fielding, throwing, and running stations. No live player pitching is permitted in this division.

The Single A division is designed for players moving up from Tee Ball, with a focus on growing their love for the game. Coaches introduce live pitching, giving players their first taste of real gameplay. Game rules are adjusted for smaller teams to create more chances for hitting and fielding at this young age. Practices emphasize building fundamental skills, especially catching and throwing.

The Double A (AA) division concentrates on preparing our young players for competitive baseball. Practices at this division become more structured as coaches help players refine important individual skills, such as catching and throwing. Players are challenged with learning how to combine their individual skills to create team success. It is truly an exciting division as players start grasping how their individual hard work at practice is having an effect on the games they are playing.

LL 7-year-old players and younger should have one Single (A) season prior to joining this division.

Teams are randomly generated to allow all players equal opportunities to play with or against friends.

The Triple A (AAA) division is SYBSA's lowest level of competitive baseball. Scores and standings are kept, and a double-elimination playoff series is played to close out the approximate 12-game season. Players start the season facing coach/machine pitching for 2-4 games, then are challenged as player pitch is introduced for the season's remaining games. Players continue to learn more baseball concepts as individual position's responsibilities are reinforced.

SYBSA reserves the right to alter division structure based on participation numbers. If altered the format would revert to a 4x4X4 structure that has proven to be fun, engaging and wonderful for player development.

LL 7-year-old players and younger should have one Double A (AA) season prior to joining this division.

LL 8-year-old players who have participated in two Double A (AA) seasons will feel a healthy challenge in this division.

Teams are randomly generated to allow all players equal opportunities to play with or against friends.

The Minors division is a competitive instructional division where more advanced baseball game concepts are explored as base stealing is introduced. Coaches focus on specific position play, pitching effectiveness, and hitting strategies. Scores and standings are kept in preparation for the season ending double-elimination playoff series. Many great friendships begin here.

LL 9-year-old players and younger not drafted to a Minors team will automatically be assigned to a AAA team.

Team assignments are based on evaluations and draft proceedings. Team assignments will be announced in mid-March.

The Majors division is SYBSA’s most competitive league for players through age 12 who perform at the top of their game. This division challenges strong players eager to learn more about strategic game play. The division features a limited number of spots and teams, with excellent opportunities for the serious player to demonstrate their skills. Game rules are based on the full Little League rule book with only minor local rule adjustments. Scores and standings are kept in preparation for the season ending double-elimination playoff series.

LL 11-year-old players and younger not drafted to a Majors team will automatically be entered into the Minors Division draft.

Team assignments are based on evaluations and draft proceedings. Team assignments will be announced in mid-March. 

The Intermediate division bridges the transition from a Little League sized field (46/60) to a full-sized "Big Diamond" field (60/90). Traditional “Big Diamond” concepts are added such as leading off bases, pickoff attempts, and stealing at any time. Teams play against teams from other local towns. 

Players may be dual rostered for an Intermediate team and Majors or Junior Division team. However, those players should have no baseball commitments other than SYBSA. Dual rostered players aged 12 and younger are expected to satisfy Majors team responsibilities in the event of game conflict with the Intermediate schedule. 13-year-old dual rostered players are expected to satisfy Intermediate team responsibilities in the event of game conflict with the Junior schedule.

LL 12-year-old and younger players not drafted to an Intermediate team will automatically be entered into the Majors Division draft.

The Junior League 60/90 Division is a program that plays on a conventional 90-foot diamond with a pitching distance of 60 feet. The 60/90 Division prepares players for high school baseball on the larger "Big Diamond". Teams will play against other teams from other local towns in the Hockomock League. 

Players may be dual rostered on a Junior team and an Intermediate Division team. However, those players should have no baseball commitments other than SYBSA. Dual rostered players aged 13-year-old are expected to satisfy Intermediate team responsibilities in the event of a game conflict with the Junior schedule.

LL 13-year-old players not drafted to a Junior team will automatically be entered into the Intermediate Division draft.
