Sharon Youth Baseball and Softball Association (SYBSA) COVID-19 Guidelines
Effective Saturday, May 29, 2021, the Commonwealth of Massachusetts officially removed most remaining COVID-19 restrictions and replaced them with a general CDC advisory regarding mask-wearing. Under the CDC advisory, unvaccinated individuals are advised to continue wearing face masks and to continue social distancing in most settings. Fully vaccinated individuals are no longer required to wear masks under the current CDC advisory.
Current guidelines are as follows:
Never come to the field if you are feeling ill. Regardless of vaccination status, If you are not feeling well, please let your coach know and stay home to protect others!
Fully vaccinated managers, coaches, and players are no longer required to wear masks under the current CDC advisory. According to the CDC, people are considered “fully vaccinated” 14 days after receiving the second dose of Moderna or Pfizer vaccines or 14 days after receiving Johnson & Johnson vaccine.
Unvaccinated or partially vaccinated managers, coaches, and players are advised to continue to wear masks whenever they cannot remain 6 feet apart from others. This may include huddles, in the dugout, team meetings, etc.
All players may remove masks in the field of play but are encouraged to continue wearing masks if they choose to do so.
Unvaccinated or partially vaccinated players are advised to have a mask available for situations when distancing is not possible.
Dugouts can be used. Coaches may continue to use an extended player area if they prefer to allow extra space for players. However, this is no longer required.
