2021 SYBSA Fall Ball League
Participating Towns/Teams: Canton, Medfield, Sharon, Needham, Braintree
Schedule: Fall baseball practices will begin on Wednesday, September 8th. There will be no practice on Yom Kippur (9/16) and no games on Saturday, October 9th (long weekend). Fall baseball will be 6 Saturdays, ending on Saturday, Oct. 23rd--if we have more than one rainout, we will look to extend to 10/30.
All teams will practice on either Wednesday or Thursday at 5:45 pm, with Monday and Tuesday saved for rain dates.
Games are played on Saturday.  Each week every Sharon team will face one local team.  Games are played in two-hour blocks with start times of 8:00, 10:00, and 12:00. Actual game start times will vary from week to week.  However, traditionally we have been able to provide the following pattern regarding game slots...
Grades 3 & 4 - 8:00 or 10:00
Grade 5 - 10:00 or 12
Grade 6 - 10:00 or 12
Grade 7 (50/70) - 10:00 or 12:00
We will not know how many teams are at each division until registration is closed and we finalize our commitments with other towns. Typically, AAA is made up of 3rd and some 4th graders, Minors is made up a mix of 4th/5th graders, and Majors mix of 5th/6th graders, but it will depend on the number of registrations. (7th graders will play 50/70)
The registration fee is $75.00.
Snack Shack: Open from 8 am -end of last game! Breakfast and lunch are served all day! The grill is on! Sharon High School Varsity Baseball families staff the grill and window and provide some delicious breakfast and lunch options!
FALL TEE BALL & 6YO & 7YO Baseball
Fall tee ball for 4- & 5-year-olds and baseball for ages 6 & 7 will be held from 4-5:30 on Sundays at Deb Sampson. Tee Ball will start by implementing our spring tee-ball plan and will slowly trickle in coach pitch and modified scrimmages. Baseball will be a skill-based practice that will graduate to coach pitch scrimmages. If two or more teams are created in a division, the coordinator and coaches will work to balance the talent and experience.
IMPORTANT REGISTRATION NEWS - GRADES 3-8: In the past, to avoid making cuts, SYBSA has looked to place more than one team in a division. When this effort falls short and we do not have enough players to make two or more teams, we are faced with teams that are over-enrolled, leaving a tough situation in which players battle for equal playing time, and coaches struggle to manage line-ups and practice plans. Given this, we have made a first-come, first-served registration for this fall.  The first 13 players who sign up for each grade will be placed on that grade’s team; each player after that will be placed on a waiting list that we hope will grow to two teams--ideally, this number would have to be 22, or 11 per team.  If we do make two teams at an age group, the hope will be that we can schedule them at opposite times so that players from one team can join another when players are unable to play/out of town.
Fall Registration will open at 8:00 am on Friday, July 16th, and continue through the end of the month.
