Change Team:
Spring Training Reminder
by posted 03/16/2023

Quick reminder, we’ll be having our first Spring Training work-out tomorrow, 530pm-7pm, at TJO in Canton. If you haven’t been there, drive around to the back side entrance. Make sure the kids are wearing turf shoes or sneakers – no cleats, and bring their gear to play (Bats, gloves, helmet, water bottle, etc...)

We’re going to start on the field for the first 45 minutes. We’ll have a team meeting, do some introductions, talk about our seasonal, team and individual goals, and lastly player expectations. We’ll learn our pre-game warm-up routine, get loose and then go into some fielding drills. Then move over to the two cages for the last 45 minutes and get a lot of hitting in!

See everyone tomorrow!

Welcome to Sharon Gold's page. Here you can get all the latest information specific to this Team. Check back frequently to stay current as the season progresses. Use the left hand menu to get specific information such as:

  • Schedule information in list (Schedule) or Calendar format
  • View team Rosters with contact information when logged in with your email and password
  • View game Results for the current season
  • View league / division Standings
  • View custom schedules for specific Teams (Multi-Schedule)
My name is Michael Berkley and I have the pleasure of coaching your son this spring season. I’m happy to say that, Jason Weiner and Matt Lavatori will be coaching as well. This is my second time coaching the 50/70 Division, it’s truly a fun year in the players development, and for parents to watch!

Attendance/RSVP – Hopefully everyone got the email last week from Coach Lajos and me. I can’t stress enough how important it will be this season to use the RSVP feature from SYBSA and communicate with me about your child’s attendance. Half of this team is playing on a second baseball team, my son included, so I understand completely about conflicts, practices and even carpooling! Please keep me updated as much as you can.

Schedule – The schedule is posted on the Needham Baseball website HERE. It is subject to change and until it’s on the SYBSA website, should be considered a draft – between the time I read the schedule on Friday and sending this email to you, a team has dropped out and changes have been made twice! However, this should give you an idea of the times and locations. Additionally, we may add a few more games at the end of the season, as it is a shorter than normal schedule.

**Club Team Pitchers** It is imperative that your club coach communicates with you after a weekend of games about your players’ availability/pitch count. I’m sure they already plan to do this, but please verify with your teams. This will help us make sure no one is overthrowing, and we can plan for our games accordingly. Likewise, I’ll make sure that all club pitchers are available for their weekend games by keeping pitch counts too.

Spring Training – Our “Spring Training” starts Friday, March 17th and runs through April 14th, (5 weeks) from 5:30pm to 7pm, at TJO Sports in Canton. Coach Lajos and I, along with other volunteer coaches, will be organizing and running the training. This is completely optional, however, with our first game scheduled April 11th (Wear layers and bring blankets!) - we won’t be able to get outside before the season starts so the few indoor practices we have, we’ll need to utilize and take advantage of them to get ready. These are on the website, under team schedule. There may be a chance I’m able to access additional space or cages, I’ll let you know if that opportunity comes up, again, optional.
